I bought a pair of computer glasses (progressive lenses, but only short-medium) and not only are they so much easier on my eyes when I’m working, but they make for a nice emergency backup, including searching for my real glasses, or vice versa.

I was basing that guess on personal experience.

Many years ago my glasses broke about 5 minutes before I had to perform. I managed to tape them together with scotch tape and got through the show. Ever since, I have carried a spare pair of glasses in my case (fool me once, shame on you ....). And ever since, I have never needed them.

At least 3 times this month I have thought that I forgot my glasses at work when I was walking to my truck to head home. Each time I had stopped and turned to go retrieve them, only to discover that I was wearing them. I lose the sensation of the glasses due to wearing a mask for hours on end.

I thought I had the problem solved, bought six pairs! Two for work. One for kitchen table. One for the computer. One for the garage. One for bedroom/bathroom. I only know how badly I’ve f* ed up when I find I have 4 pairs on my computer desk....

I’m doing this more and more... Not bad in the house, but in the shops? Big time disaster.

My worst case back up are the prescription sunglasses I keep in the work bag... but I feel like I’ve lost if I have to resort to those.

The absolute worst is when I get back from a trip and take out my contacts - and then realize that my glasses aren’t on the counter because they’re somewhere in the van.

I rarely wear my actual glasses because I wear sunglasses a lot with my contacts. The worst is when I pull into a parking garage with my regular glasses on and instinctively take them off for better light.

I hate when that happens. I’ll occasionally take my glasses off momentarily, then walk off to do something else for minute and then forget the random little place I set them down in. Commence 5-10 minutes of annoyed looking for them before finding them in some random spot or doing something like knocking them to the floor after my arm unknowingly brushes the random spot I put them in.

I don’t tend to lose my glasses since they typically hang around my neck...but that leads to other complications when you are lifting something heavy like a timber fencepost into its new hole and realise shortly afterward that you’ve probably just broken and buried your $200 reading glasses.
